This summer, experience culture on a large scale and with ease, thanks to the National Arts Centre! With its rich and diverse summer program, the NAC transforms your vacation into an artistic adventure that’s as accessible as it is unforgettable. Sit back and let the magic happen. This year, a brand-new map highlights a main route that begins in front of the Canadian Museum of History and features approximately 40 artworks in the heart of downtown, to be explored year-round, day and night. This 10th anniversary edition marks a new chapter for the Culture Trail. Explore two unique routes—one dedicated to sculptures, the other to murals—and let yourself be surprised by works that are illuminated and winter-ready. Thanks to a digital map, guided tours, and a route tailored for school groups, the experience can now be enjoyed year-round. Not only is it a free activity, but it will also appeal to everyone thanks to the diversity of its artworks!
Bring your folding chairs and blankets to enjoy the outdoor movie theater! Gatineau invites you to a series of free French-language film screenings for the whole family, shown on a giant screen in several parks throughout the region, including Petite-Nation Park, Plateau Park, Laurent-Groulx Park, Raymond-Madore Park, Hautes-Pleines Park, Robert Stewart Park, and Édouard-Mercier Park. You can also enjoy a series of free concerts presented by the Symmes Inn Museum as part of its special program Les beaux dimanches, a musical experience in the Inn’s gardens. When you head to the Supreme Court of Canada, discover a wide range of activities and workshops, plus get the chance to tour the Supreme Court and explore its architecture and judicial system.
Celebrate Canada Day surrounded by nature at Chutes Coulonge Park, and gather family and friends for a festive day filled with activities for all ages. Enjoy the water games to cool off, meet the animals at the mini zoo, participate in a euchre tournament, explore the site on a guided hike, and climb aboard a real fire truck. To start the day off right, a delicious pancake breakfast is also available on-site ($10 per person). From July 2 to 4, the Gatineau Comedy Festival is back to have you laughing your head off! Come see big names in comedy, rising stars of the industry, and talented up-and-coming comedians for three days at Place de la Cité in Gatineau.
On July 4, the Triathlon de Gatineau celebrates its 34th edition in the enchanting setting of the Centre plein air du Lac-Leamy. It’s a must-attend event for all sports and outdoor enthusiasts! On July 4, don’t miss the Festival de la rue Eddy, a free, familial celebration that will liven up the heart of Downtown Gatineau. For the occasion, the street will be closed to traffic between Wright and Papineau and transformed into a true open-air playground. On the program: a zip line, a climbing tower, inflatable structures, mini golf, a wrestling gala, improv matches, street entertainment… You can also enjoy delicious food on-site and explore the various booths showcasing local talent and businesses.
You’re in for a treat, as the City of Gatineau is offering a rich and interesting lineup of events in July! From July 8 to 11, dance and sing along to the rhythms of ABBA Celebration at the Théâtre de l'Hôtel-Casino Lac-Leamy. On July 11, let yourself be lulled by music in the heart of nature with Festiv’ÉTÉ, a series of free outdoor concerts presented all summer long in the peaceful, lush setting of Parc régional de Champboisé. On July 12, step back in time at the 25th edition of the Chénéville Vintage Car Exhibition. Spark intergenerational conversations while admiring nearly 200 classic car exhibits. You’ll also find a food and refreshment stand, as well as activities for children. Throughout the day, door prizes will be drawn from among participants and exhibitors. Plus, it’s free!

On July 12, it’s time for Family Day at Rafting Momentum! Children ages 5 and up (18 kg/40 lbs) can go rafting.
