Champlain Lookout, atop the Eardley Escarpment on the Champlain Parkway, is Gatineau Park's best-known and most popular viewpoint. This area is home to the park's richest and most fragile ecosystem, due to its geology and location. The escarpment is the dividing line between the Canadian Shield and the St. Lawrence Lowlands. Access to the lookout varies with the season. Gatineau Park is managed and protected by the National Capital Commission.
