No matter the season, I always love visiting Nordik Spa-Nature. What I found during this visit was that the summer temperatures are that I was able to spend longer in certain parts of their thermal cycle. Nordik’s three-step relaxation ritual alternates between hot and cold temperatures, followed by a rest period. For the hot step, your body stores heat, dilating pores and eliminating toxins. The transition from hot to cold produces a thermal shock, releasing adrenaline. The rest period helps slow the release of adrenaline and secretes endorphins. I found I could stay in the cold plunges the longest I ever had and found them very refreshing, and they were my favourite part of the thermal cycle this time around.

Countries and cultures around the world have inspired the relaxation experiences around Nordik. Get a slice of travel through the ancient rituals at Nordik. The thermal cycle is a relaxation ritual based on a 2000-year-old tradition founded in Nordic countries. Travel to Germany with the Aufguss ritual, for an intensified thermal cycle. During the Aufguss ritual, the rituals artisan melts snowballs infused with essential oils onto hot sauna stones, creating a burst of steam. The steam is distributed throughout the sauna using techniques like towel waving or fanning, enhancing relaxation, promoting detoxification, and providing a sensory experience. Learn about the four Aufguss rituals to choose from here. Another example is the Källa Treatment, where you’ll be able to feel like you’re in the dead sea but close to home. Feel weightless as you float in the water with a soothing soundtrack and relaxing lights. Go underground to this stunning underwater pool. This saltwater flotation pool is 5 metres deep into rock that contains 10 tons of Epsom salt in 1,300 cubic feet of water. They use carefully selected and balanced magnesium salts. It’s the second floating pool of its kind in the world. The water is 37°C / 98°F in temperature. This is a great spot to achieve physical and mental bliss as you float. The Källa Treatment encourages restorative sleep and reduces stress, tension, inflammation and more.

Without a doubt, I always leave Nordik feeling so relaxed and refreshed. Amid a busy summer, it was the perfect opportunity to spend a day immersed in everything the spa offers and go at a slower pace. There are many cozy bonfire pits, hammocks and hanging chairs to spend time reading a book or catching a nap.
