Discovering animals in the heart of wilderness is a must-do activity for all ages. My family and I are frequent visitors of the park but no wonder! We were pleasantly surprised by the wide spread of activities on site. Discover or rediscover this timeless classic : Omega Park!
Before setting of on the 12-km trail by car, a stop at the Park House is a must. We stock up on our favorite beverages, download the interactive map, and pick up our bag of carrots. As we are eagerly awaited … Red deer, elk, and white-tailed deer are licking their chops when seeing us. They are greatly used to visitors and await patiently for the window to open to receive their delicious carrot.
After encountering some twenty species of wild animals from the northern hemisphere, we arrive at the Land of the Pioneers. A place offering several seasonal activities such as animal presentations within walking distance—a dream come true! Omega Park is more than just a car ride. There are many diverse activities to enjoy!
At the Land of the Pioneers, you will find the wolf observatory, an immersive place where a simple glass wall separates us from the wolf pack! It is really impressive! A passionate guide was on hand to answer our questions, explain the animals' behavior, and help us better understand life in the forest. This interactive touch really adds something special to the visit. The park also offers animal presentations on wolverines, gray wolves, and birds of prey. It's the perfect opportunity to talk with a wildlife expert.
If you have children of different ages or interests, Omega Park is the ideal place: while one is sledding, the other can go snowshoeing. So, put on your boots by the fire and enjoy winter activities in the heart of the forest!
One of my daughter's favorite moments is definitely the suspended walkway in the trees. It's a magical little walk from tree to tree, accompanied by charming music. It's like being in a fairy tale!
There are now several places to eat by the fireplace. We stopped at the Cookerie, a small snack bar with a typical Quebec flavor, for lunch and enjoyed the picnic areas. For dinner, we fell in love with the OmegaBon Restaurant . The menu, inspired by northern flavors, showcases local seasonal products with surprising finesse. The warm and friendly decor opens onto the beautiful Birds lake. We savored fresh cuisine rooted in the terroir. It was a wonderful discovery!
You absolutely must discover the brand new Oniro night walking trail, an immersive experience that is open all year round. At dusk, venture into the heart of the sleeping forest and dive straight into the dreams of the animals. The experience transports us into the story of a wolf cub who has lost his way in the night, separated from his pack by a forest fire. Through 17 illuminated scenes, we follow the quest of the gray wolf who dreams of finding her cub. The trail takes us through the dreams of the animals. This magical project bears the signature of Michel Lemieux, renowned for his talent in creating immersive worlds. For Oniro, he was guided by an intriguing question: what do animals dream about? We know that humans have always dreamed, but animals have too, for hundreds of millions of years. So, are their dreams similar to ours? This reflection served as the guiding thread for creating an experience where we literally immerse ourselves in the dream world of animals. This 60-minute nighttime walk, accessible to all, literally takes us back to childhood.
On our next visit, we definitely want to enjoy the unique experience of sleeping with the wolves. The park offers several types of accommodation, including cabins and lodges, perfect for both small and large families. Thanks to the huge windows, you can literally wake up with the wolves and see them moving around nearby. It's the kind of experience you can't find anywhere else and one that will remain etched in your memory for a long time to come.
You can also sleep with the wolves in a lodge, a magnificent log cabin. Thanks to its huge bay windows, you can settle down comfortably with your morning coffee and watch the wolves in their habitat. There are three sizes of lodge, accommodating 4, 6, or 8 people.
Omega Park also offers superb cabins perched at the highest point of the site, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Designed to accommodate up to four people, they feature a private terrace, BBQ, spa, and direct access to nature. It's an ideal place for a family vacation. And as a little bonus, you can even watch the deer and white-tailed deer directly from the terrace.
For a comfortable stay surrounded by nature, pods are an excellent option. They are equipped with all the essential amenities: electricity, hot water, air conditioning, heating, kitchenette, and bathroom. This cozy little retreat can accommodate up to four people thanks to a queen-size bed and a double bed on the mezzanine.
For camping enthusiasts, Wi-tents offer the perfect outdoor experience. You can recharge your batteries in a comfortable solar-powered tent and enjoy a fireplace that will keep you warm. These tents can accommodate four people with one queen-size bed and two single beds. Firewood is included during the winter season.
