He immediately saw immense potential in this vast riverside expanse, formerly a strawberry field. After eight years’ work, the Chasse-Galerie was born from a crazy dream: “to create a unique place that combines nature, tranquility and a touch of legend with the proximity of urban services”.  Rather than focusing solely on practicality, he chose to infuse it with a touch of the imaginary, inspired by the legendary story of the flying canoe – the Chasse-Galerie, a symbol of freedom, travel and connection with the land. This evocative name is no accident, embodying the spirit of the place: a site where nature seems almost enchanted, and where you find that rare feeling of really letting go. It’s also a not to our Quebec heritage, revisited with a modern twist. “Nature becomes almost magical, and every stay can become an unforgettable memory.” 

What sets the Chasse-Galerie apart is its ability to combine the best of both worlds: a preserved natural environment and immediate proximity to all essential services. Grocery stores, restaurants, drugstores, garages: everything is just stones throw from the site, making it an ideal destination for families, seasonal workers or campers passing through.  On-site facilities have been designed to maximize relaxation: 275 sites for tents or trailers (with or without services), a magnificent swimming pool, well-appointed common areas and access to the Gatineau and Désert rivers, ideal for canoeing, kayaking or fishing. Recently opened, the site is still in full development – and that’s what keeps us coming back year after year. Starting next season, campers will be able to take advantage of new facilities such as an on-site convenience store, improved common areas including shaded areas and playgrounds, and an expanded range of activities.  But ambitions go even further: eventually, the Chasse-Galerie aims to become a four-season destination, by developing winter-appropriate accommodation and a program of activities to enjoy the site all year round. The idea is to continue enhancing the customer experience while respecting the natural beauty and peacefulness of the site.

One of the great assets of the Chasse-Galerie is the richness of its immediate environment. Whether you’re a cyclist, a forest walker or a cultural explorer, you will find plenty to do on site.

The swimming pool is perfect for hod days. Sand games, structures and swing chairs are also nearby. 

The river invites you to relax, in a canoe, kayak or simply with your feet in the water.

The community hall offers games, movie nights, table tennis and entertainment. 

The pickleball court gives young and old alike the chance to blow off some steam and try out a new sport.  The relaxing atmosphere and multitude of activities offered onsite are such that many families spend the whole day without feeling the need to lease.
